Macy’s is weighing a rather unique addition to the Big Apple’s public park space — the roof of its iconic Herald Square flagship store.

As part of a strategy to attract more shoppers and make its stores more exciting, Macy’s brass are considering plans to develop the rooftop of its massive 2.2 million-square-foot 34th Street store, adding restaurants and open green space, including trees and benches, it said Tuesday.

“That store is getting more valuable by the day as the center of gravity in Manhattan shifts southwest to Hudson Yards,” said Doug Sessler, the retailer’s vice president of real estate.

The rooftop idea, Sessler said, is meant to encourage people to meander through the store either on their way up to or down from the attractions on the roof.
